Re: Funding and accounting for servers
Based on the models given here , which one would the setup described here fall into? http://www.gameservers.com/ I'm currently researching this subject by quizzing other fan-supported game communities, looking to find options. This was one option suggestion by the folks over at FS2. Is it of any use...

Re: Community Project: The Great Shaft
Actually, that makes perfect sense - this is how the interior/exterior transitions in Gahreesen were done. (I remember bug testing those doors exhaustively - once they got the instancing synchronization worked out, it worked very smoothly.)
Thank you.
Thank you.

Re: Community Project: The Great Shaft
Thank you Chacal! Now that does explain a lot - I didn't know about any of those methods. It will be utterly fascinating to see what the various tools for age creation will have built into them once they get under way. I'll be looking forward to that down the road.
Much obliged.

Re: Community Project: The Great Shaft
Alahmnat, I have a question or two regarding the mechanics of the level design for your proposal (which I think is wonderfully detailed and will be fascinating to explore, btw.) Understand this is based on experiences with Uru: CC, however I suspect some of it will apply to the MOUL engine as well. ...

Re: Controls
Regarding the KB mapping - MOUL and URU: CC were identical in function at one point. I regularly remap my controls in CC to a 1st-person shooter "WASD" default, as follows: W: Forward A: Turn left S: Reverse D: Turn right Q: Sidestep left E: Jump R: Sidestep right L-Shift: Run This is basically a cl...

Re: Uru-Specific Link Library
Rel.to will definitely do as a launching pad!
As we gain new sites that cover different aspects of development and game play, then I assume the site will update and add links and new categories as needed.
Thank you JW - very useful indeed. (And, why reinvent a perfectly good wheel, after all?)

Uru-Specific Link Library
Would it be possible to collect up a list of Uru-specific links and post them here as a Link Library? I'm thinking of something open-ended and expandable as the community sets up and establishes itself in the open source area.
(If this is something that can wait for the Wiki, that's great!)

Re: Visual effects: linking avatars and Linking Books
Hi 75th.
You might also want to poke around and bend the ear of Andylegate over the Maintainers. IIRC, there is a post there where someone had cooked up a flyby of Teledahn for the linking panel of the book. Don't think it was ever implemented, but it was described as definitely do-able.

Re: Community Project: The Great Shaft
Whatever comes of this, I will happily test it and bug report the multiplayer version until either I or my computer fail from exhaustion. Just let me know - repetition ad infinitum to get things perfected doesn't scare me in the slightest.
