I'm in favor of CC-BY-NC-ND for this. It's a step towards making shards a lot less painful for our users.
I think point 5 will be nearly impossible to adequately describe in any sort of legally-binding manner, and is probably made sufficiently moot by the ND clause.

Re: RAD Game Tools License Concern - Immediate Action Requir
Oh Dhelayan. What would we do without him. I think the best thing is just to notify Cyan and/or RAD and have them send a DMCA takedown request to github for that repo. It's just not worth anybody's time to bother talking to him.

Re: RAD Game Tools License Concern - Immediate Action Requir
I just tried the git-only conversion script on a clone of the H-uru/Plasma repo. I got a message about "possible duplicates", but the HEAD SHA is b3976524ee406256655183fd25a49d984138dfb0, which matches the expected output according to binkbegone.sh. Looking at the logs those 'duplicates' might actua...

Re: RAD Game Tools License Concern - Immediate Action Requir
Hoikas and I are happy with the results of CW's current script. Barring any issues found by others we'll push the results of that script to the H-uru master as soon as the simplified script exists for all our forks to use.

Re: RAD Game Tools License Concern - Immediate Action Requir
The newline issue has been resolved - it was apparently a Mac vs. Linux issue, and a workaround was found.
Some progress has been made towards figuring out the messed up hg metadata generation as well. It hopefully won't be much longer before we have a portable conversion script.

Re: RAD Game Tools License Concern - Immediate Action Requir
Found it. Newline at the end of the commit blob isn't present on both sides. Probably we can add something to the filter-branch to normalize newlines on commit messages - I'll try to find out what git normally does (newline or not). I'm not sure why these particular commits would have that problem -...

Re: RAD Game Tools License Concern - Immediate Action Requir
The difference between Hoikas' and my conversions appear to be related to the generation of the hg move metadata in the commits: https://gist.github.com/37b65c069d79fc450580 I'm still trying to track down the divergence between CWalther's repo and hoikas/me. Nothing looks particularly weird about th...

As soon as you have simplified scripts available for git I'll try to convert the Gehn sources

Re: RAD Game Tools License Concern - Immediate Action Requir
I've done a quick look over of the git version - nothing jumps out at me as horrible. I'll try to build it sometime over the next couple of days, but probably Hoikas or Deledrius would be better bets if you want it built sooner than later.

For my thoughts on how much JW has "helped" the community, I invite you to read http://forum.guildofwriters.org/viewtopic.php?f=114&t=5316&p=55203#p55203 Or, to borrow your phrasing: Wow!
