Re: Testing an XP-compatible H'uru build
OK, that means that, in principle, a H'uru based client is feasible, adding a level of "proof" to the comments made by Hoikas in response to Christian's original post. That's good, but I think I'd like to understand why Ghen's data rather than "standard" MOULa data was needed, though I suspect it's ...

Re: Minkata Shard Update December 14th, 2015 (Build 82, updated to Build 88)
What you need to do is to copy the entire 'dat' folder from your Cyan MOULa installation and paste it into your Minkata installation. Shards are not able to deliver the game data files, so they must be copied from a working MOULa install. It is worthwhile making sure that your MOULa game files are f...

Re: Should a future MOULa client be H-uru-based?
There is another aspect that I'm inclined to raise, more as a note of caution than anything: I could summarise it as "we don't know what we don't know". There may be tools that Cyan re-builds and uses internally that re-use parts of the client code, perhaps "Customer Care" tools or the like, so ther...

Re: Client Update Concerns
I can honestly say that I care not for users who run Windows XP -- it might seem nasty to lock them out of the game, but really the security issues in an unsupported OS, especially in this day? It highly concerns me. I take your point entirely, and on a shard it's quite reasonable to say "look, thi...

Re: Client Update Concerns
Those comparability issues were something I had a vague sense of and are probably part of what Christian was referring to as needing some discussion. Obviously, we don't have any control over what's in Cyan's server code at this point, so we need to keep with client code that doesn't break that link...

Re: Brief Minkata downtime Wed December 23 2015
I've seen that happen (a long time ago) but never figured out why. Like you, it was OK when re-started. Edit: It's interesting that you had to download msvcr71.dll to get the initial launcher to run... I thought we'd nailed that one a long time ago :? . Anyway, since that was always a file that the ...

Re: Client Update Concerns
Yup. The DirectX (and MSVCRT) DLL issues date right back to the very first Open Source client builds and arose, I think, because the versions then available to MSVC 2003 had superceded the ones being used by Cyan. Whatever the history, most people who used any early shard and didn't already have tho...

Yes, that's what I meant - there ought not to be a problem with that file, so if it is being created but not populated then something "funny" is happening.rarified wrote:No, the file is the usual Cyan tos.txt ... It sounds like the updater simply could not write it out.
