Oh, and can you get to the Foundry web page http://foundry.openuru.org?

That helps. You're getting to the right nodes nearby.

Since you're using a VPN I'm starting to wonder if "whatsmyipaddress" gave the correct information. I had been monitoring my inbound firewall network port for your address since we started this conversation and didn't see a single packet. (The monitor is before the firewall.)

Did you try using your browser to get to the Foundry web page?

Next thing to try in identifying you (and you can do this in a PM if you're getting concerned about security).

Go into a Command Prompt window and type "ipconfig". Post/send the output. Should look something like this:

Ok, I saw your access there. Your IP address had changed -- your VPN may be rotating your connections through a pool of addresses. After you get the ipconfig information, go back to the foundry web page and I'll make sure my monitor sees your inbound browser connection. Then we can get you to try the Minkata client again once I can pinpoint your source address and monitor it.

Can you run it in a Command Prompt running as Administrator, if your account is not already an administrator. I'm assuming this is Windows 2000 through Windows 10.

[To run Command Prompt as an Administrator, bring up the start menu and go to the Command Prompt line. Right click on Command Prompt, it will give you either the option to "Run as Administrator" or "More", which you can expand and get to "Run as Administrator"]

[Update 2: And I was able to get your result if you merely typed the "Windows" key on your keyboard, and then typed "ipconfig". You will have to actually bring up a command prompt box, and then type "ipconfig" in that window. Get command prompt by "Windows" then typing "Command" and you should see an item in the list for Command Prompt.]

I don't think I'm having a connection issue, but I do have failure to launch. My dialog box says :
Minkata is OPEN!
Current build: #121 05/2017 - New MOSS Server 1/2019
UruLive.Live.1.918 - Minkata.120
It does some checking, then returns this error in a new window (paraphrased):
file not found on server: GlobalClothing.age.gz
And then it quits on its own (after I dismiss the error box).
00292608 on MOULa now 00310046
00018203 on Minkata
00040424 on Gehn

Hi catherwood!

That error would seem to indicate the file dat\GlobalClothing.age did not get copied from the Uru Live\dat folder successfully.

Try clicking on the file C:\Program Files (x86)\Uru Live\dat\GlobalClothing.age, hold down the <ctrl> key and type the letter “c”. Then open your Minkata “dat” folder, hold down <ctrl> and type the letter “v”. If Windows should ask if you want to replace the existing file, answer yes.

Then try starting Minkata again.

Let us know!
