Patcher Update Failed. error 9, Remote Shutdown

not had this one before, hope nothing serious.

After clicking through the error message, the launcher says "Self patch failed. Exiting"

Working fine for me right now… Is it reproducible for you, i.e. you can’t get in at all? I don’t know offhand what the error message means, but have you checked for leftover UruLauncher processes in the process manager? The symptom of that is normally different, but it couldn’t hurt to check.

it's fine for me now too, thanks Christian. I got the error twice before I posted, and I checked for "zombie" launchers between the first and second tries without finding any - it's second nature for me to make that check by now!

It looks like it was the result of some temporary networking issue - There might have been a batch of lost packets and the server eventually said "that's enough!" - Error 9 (kNetErrRemoteShutdown) looks to me like an error that is thrown when the server end decides to terminate the Patcher.
