It is also working without the TOS.txt now. Interesting update by the way. ;)

when I tried again, this time I got Tai's error:
rarified wrote:

That happens if the file dat\Myst_District_Textures.prp is not present or is damaged. Copy it from the MOULa dat folder overwriting your Mincata copy.
so I copied over the file as above; and got as far as the spinning circle - but it kept flicking to "not responding" and then I got:

UruLive.Live.1.912 - Minkata.77 - External.Release
Exception type: Access violation
Call stack (14 levels):

0x007F71C3
0x007F6C50
0x7C350609

Tried again and same result.

I'm seeing it now as well on a different Windows 7 box. I'm suspecting the Windows Explorer is not copying things correctly.

I'm investigating further...

About flippin' time  (sorry rarified ;))

It didn't work for me initially, either with a copy of my MOULa dat folder or the previous Minkata dat folder. Then I found I had about eight files in my MOULa dat folder that were out of date (including the Myst_District_Textures.prp that Tai'lahr had a problem with). I'm guessing that's legacy from the abortive MOULa verification of build 916. After refreshing my MOULa dat folder and recopying, everything is fine :)

Edit: Full list of files I had that were out-of-sync:
Kveer_District_Textures.prp
GuildPub-Cartographers_District_Textures.prp
GuildPub-Maintainers_District_Textures.prp
GuildPub-Messengers_District_Textures.prp
GuildPub-Writers_District_Textures.prp
Descent_District_Textures.prp
GuildPub-Greeters_District_Textures.prp
Myst_District_Textures.prp

Thanks, Mac - yup, that route works. :D Phew. I'd assumed my MOULa installation MUST be up to date but clearly it can't have been. :o

Went back to MOULa AGAIN; deleted TOS & logged into two different accounts there; then copied the dat files AGAIN to Minkata folder; logged in there and got a stack dump error:

Confirmed on my failure again. So it's possible that even having run MOULa for a while, not all of MOULa's files are up to date.

So a proper procedure to update Minkata is:
  1. Remove the TOS.txt file in your MOULa install directory
    (something like C:\Program Files (x86)\Uru Live\TOS.txt)
  2. Run the MOULa client until you get to the login prompt. You can login and quit from there
  3. Copy all the files in the MOULa dat folder into your Minkata dat folder
  4. Remove the TOS.txt file from the Minkata folder
  5. Run the Minkata client
Let me know if anyone fails after following these instructions.

ah, I hadn't removed the TOS.txt file from the Minkata folder. But it did work nonetheless. Now I've deleted the TOS file and yes, it still works.
