While that method is certainly simpler, it may eventually not work (or not work on another computer with a slightly different configuration or history). The Microsoft installer for the DLLs is supposed to be general and smart enough to cope with situations a simple copy will not.

That's assuming we're talking about the same files. Could you post the link to the .zip file you found so we can confirm we are talking about the same fruit? 8-)

Thanks!

I expect catherwood is referring to our Help Desk Knowledgebase article as the first page mentioned: http://support.openuru.org/knowledgebase.php?article=2 - this in turn points to a dll-files.com page that has a download for the DLLs and instructions that follow the (very) old convention of putting commonly used DLLs in the System32 folder. But that policy often led to problems due to differing versions of the same DLL getting dropped into the folder so the more correct approach, as catherwood used, is to put the DLLs in the folder beside the application that wants them; that avoids any version conflict. I'll point out though, that the Knowledgebase article actually says to put the DLLs beside urulauncher.exe - it's the dll-files.com instructions that are outdated and we only intended you to go there to get the files (Microsoft never provided an easy way to get the MSVC 2003 redistributable libraries, like they did with later version).
