Update on Tech Changes to SL

I am interested in what SL is doing to handle their 35k to 80k concurrent users. I think it gives us a sense of the scale of things and growth problems. Today SL was mostly closed for an hour as they changed over to MySQL 5.
This year has seen 3 areas of their concentrated effort on their Data Centers, Network and Data Access. LL is now West Coast, Mid-West and East Coast. Their inter-server network is now private and all fiber.
I think this is open to the public... Grid Update
The amazing thing is even with all this many of us see performance degrading. The OSGrid stuff seems much cleaner. Of course there are a 1,000 times more users on SL.
