Security: Trusting the servers

Mod Note: Split from the Relevant threads in other forums topic.

MOUL/MOOS Security
I seldom need to use Python. If I do it is to edit a script with a problem and get it working. I do know one I use opens ports and pulls and sends information across the net. So, Lord Chaos brought up a point on MOUL about security.

By just the nature of MOOS/MOUL I think planting a Trojan in an age would be difficult and unlikely. Setting up a entire Trojan shard would easier but it would be a lot of work for little return. So, again, I think, unlikely.

However, the thread is here: http://mystonline.com/forums/viewtopic. ... highlight=

Please feel free to add specific links to threads/posts in other forums below, as you spot them.
I've emphasized a bit of Dot's original post above; I interpreted her intent as "Post links to technical topics found at forums other than those already in 'Open Source MOUL Technical'."

I do not see any benefit to posting links to discussions in 'Open Source MOUL Technical'.

Hmm... I don't really see any harm either, within the context of this thread, at least. I don't drop in on the MOUL forums that much now, so I might have taken a few days to see the thread Nalates was pointing out.

If these are threads of interest specifically to the System Concepts group, that's fine, but don't get carried away or it will dilute the value. A more effective approach is for the OP to accumulate and categorize these in the first post as new threads are posted. If there are frequently threads of interest for the community at large or of general interest to members of OpenURU.org, open a "Relevant Threads" topic in the Open Discussions forum.

Re: Security - for any more detail, that should be discussed in another thread. But, a few starting points:
