Jeff stated that there would be a vote on the covenant today, so anyone who hadn't already rec'd a copy of the draft should take one. He then explained how the vote would take place.
-ISLAND UPDATE
Jeff gave what he termed "the most exciting island update ever!" which was "We're doing stuff :)" There was some discussion about the signposts being in the works, and then Jeff moved the discussion to the
- LAND AND POLICIES
Jeff asked if anyone had any points they wanted to discuss about the covenant before the vote.
Nonlinear asked, "Do parcel owners have any expectation of privacy here? Or can anybody cam anywhere?" Jeff replied that, "Seeing as we can't tell where people's cameras are, that is something we cannot control." Nonlinear indicated that he understood that, but asked if it could be suggested. There was some discussion regarding the futility of attempting to control cameras by writing rules and suggestions of just expecting people to have good manners. Dagda suggested that it might be something "that could be stated as a general principle, even if it's something we take on faith." Jeff agreed and indicated that if it became "an observable issue" a line to that effect would be added to the covenant. He said, "otherwise, I feel the covenant states clearly to behave, but if it is felt it needs to be stated explicately, it will be done so."
Jeff brought out the voting box, people voted and then he declared that, "We have a majority in the vote. The covenant is now an official sim document. Thank you for your votes :)"
Jeff asked if there any other discussion points about land issues or policies today and Krell asked if flying were disabled on the sim (as is being considered), would it include the private parcels. Jeff said that would be at the parcel owner's discretion, but noted that, "it is programmed into the group that if fly is off on resident land, that the resident can still fly." Jeff said that disabling flying would be done on a trial basis to see how it goes, and when things are worked out so that fly is no longer needed, a final council vote would be held. DeAnn asked if there would be a walkway alternative to the ferry; Jeff replied that the ferries and the upper walkway would be the only way to get around inside the cavern.
Krell also asked about the ferries and how to get from his parcel to the island. Jeff explained that the green line (residents parcels) and the yellow line (Great Shaft, Ferry Terminal) meet in the neighborhood on the island.
- FUN AND GADGETRY
* Currently, the July sparklie is out! Go grab it!
* Upcoming this week is the level 2 building classes with the builder's guild
* As always, the uru book club continues their readings this week
* and the summer journey for ED is coming soon to a sim near you!
* GoH Meditations are on Wednesdays, at two times throughout the day.

Jeff asked if there was anything else not covered elsewhere in the meeting and proceeded to wrap the meeting up by giving the summary.

JEFF'S SUMMARY: Though we have little to announce and these meetings are going fast, it doesn't mean we're not doing anything, as evident by the consistent events and progress we've been making in building and fun throughout the sim. Things have been a bit high tension behind the scenes as we're making all this progress, but the end result has turned out well. Other than some tensions, and quick meetings, we're working hard to continue the fun and the adventures we're all part of each and every day here in Eder D'uru. Thanks for coming everyone! Meeting Adjourned!

Repectfully submitted,
Tailahr Winnikow

EDER D'URU GUILDS MTG CHATLOG - July 5, 2009

[2009/07/05 12:03] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: Anyways, we will have a vote today everyone, so if you haven't already, please take a copy of the covenant draft
[2009/07/05 12:03] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: we will have a discussion of the covenant content, and then hold the final vote to vote it into place
[2009/07/05 12:05] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: I'll pass out the agenda today, since so few folks are here this week
[2009/07/05 12:06] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: So, Welcome to this week's meeting everyone
[2009/07/05 12:07] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: For the folks in the US, I hope you're all having a lovely independance day weekend
[2009/07/05 12:07] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: and thanks for taking the time out from hots and hamburgers to come visit with us for a bit :)
[2009/07/05 12:08] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: There isn't much on the agenda today, so, aside from discussion, it should go quickly
[2009/07/05 12:08] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: For those who haven't voted before, it's very simple
[2009/07/05 12:09] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: there will be a box around where I am standing, you click it, and pick the option you'd like to vote for
[2009/07/05 12:09] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: In today's case, it will be a yes/no vote on whether the covenant is approved or not
[2009/07/05 12:09] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: But before we get there, we have the most exciting island update ever!
[2009/07/05 12:09] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: We're doing stuff :)
[2009/07/05 12:10] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: So, we're doing stuff :) That's our island update. We've honestly done so much it's hard to say it all here, so all i can say is go exploring on the island and see all the new stuff being built. We're really cranking stuff out now :)
[2009/07/05 12:11] Dagda Sideways: especially near the top ㋡
[2009/07/05 12:11] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: Indeed
[2009/07/05 12:11] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: other than that, in the coming weeks we plan to have a few updated old things. more on those in the coming weeks :)
[2009/07/05 12:12] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: Is there any discussion points about the island this week from anyone?
[2009/07/05 12:12] DeAnn Dufaux: other than signposts because I can't find anything!!??!!
[2009/07/05 12:12] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: Ah, that is a good project that we have forgotten to discuss in our meeting :)
[2009/07/05 12:12] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: We ARE indeed working on them
[2009/07/05 12:13] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: as well as one of the other updates to an older item, which should help navigation even more
[2009/07/05 12:13] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: We have a neat plan for signposts that should be a bit more entertaining than a post with arrows :)
[2009/07/05 12:13] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: I don't want to say too much on that because it is in the planning phase
[2009/07/05 12:14] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: Anyways, is there anything else?
[2009/07/05 12:14] Tailahr Winnikow: Can I thank everyone who contributed to the party yesterday?
[2009/07/05 12:14] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: In the events section, yes Tai
[2009/07/05 12:15] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: OK, now moving on to the land and policies section
[2009/07/05 12:15] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: our only point today is the covenant
[2009/07/05 12:15] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: Is there anything that anyone would like to bring up about the covenant that they feel needs to be addressed?
[2009/07/05 12:15] Krell Kruh: not me seems fine
[2009/07/05 12:16] DeAnn Dufaux: looks good to me
[2009/07/05 12:17] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: if there are no discussion points about the covenant, I will bring the voting box out
[2009/07/05 12:18] Nonlinear Tarantal: I have one
[2009/07/05 12:18] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: yes, non?
[2009/07/05 12:18] Nonlinear Tarantal: Do parcel owners have any expectation of privacy here?
[2009/07/05 12:18] Nonlinear Tarantal: Or can anybody cam anywhere?
[2009/07/05 12:19] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: Seeing as we can't tell where people's cameras are, that is something we cannot control
[2009/07/05 12:19] Krell Kruh: I believe you can keep people out of most anywhere but, Cam nope.
[2009/07/05 12:19] Nonlinear Tarantal: Of course. But it could be suggested.
[2009/07/05 12:19] DeAnn Dufaux: I think that's a problem anywhere
[2009/07/05 12:19] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: it is also why we encourage more private areas to be built within the skybox area as no public areas will be within that height range
[2009/07/05 12:20] DeAnn Dufaux: even with security systems, people can cam in
[2009/07/05 12:20] Tailahr Winnikow: If you suggest it, it might just give people the idea.
[2009/07/05 12:20] Dagda Sideways: yes, it's something that could be stated as a general principle, even if it's something we take on faith
[2009/07/05 12:20] Nonlinear Tarantal: Just asking
[2009/07/05 12:20] DeAnn Dufaux: I agree, Dagda
[2009/07/05 12:20] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: I'd be happy to add somethin in
[2009/07/05 12:20] DeAnn Dufaux: simple manners
[2009/07/05 12:21] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: I motion that we will specifically state this fact, if it is becoming an observable issue
[2009/07/05 12:21] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: is there any objection?
[2009/07/05 12:21] Krell Kruh: Perhaps a line stating privacy shoud be observed in the skybox arean.
[2009/07/05 12:21] DeAnn Dufaux: no
[2009/07/05 12:21] Krell Kruh: none here
[2009/07/05 12:21] DeAnn Dufaux: no objection
[2009/07/05 12:21] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: otherwise, I feel the covenant states clearly to behave, but if it is felt it needs to be stated explicately, it will be done so
[2009/07/05 12:22] Nonlinear Tarantal: No obj. Tahnks
[2009/07/05 12:22] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: OK, awesome :)
[2009/07/05 12:22] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: Any other discussion points anyone has before we vote this in?
[2009/07/05 12:22] Tailahr Winnikow: I think you're just planting ideas if you're specific about it.
[2009/07/05 12:22] Krell Kruh: Not on the covenant
[2009/07/05 12:23] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: OK, I'll bring the voting box out
[2009/07/05 12:23] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: all in attendance are welcome to vote
[2009/07/05 12:23] Tailahr Winnikow: Perhaps make a statement about respecting privacy, but not specify cameras.
[2009/07/05 12:23] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: Please vote as you see fit. Your votes are completely anonymous
[2009/07/05 12:25] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: Voting is open, please vote :)
[2009/07/05 12:26] DeAnn Dufaux: done
[2009/07/05 12:26] Krell Kruh: mine also
[2009/07/05 12:27] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: We have a majority in the vote. The covenant is now an official sim document. Thank you for your votes :)
[2009/07/05 12:29] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: Are there any other discussion points about land issues or policies today?
[2009/07/05 12:29] Krell Kruh: yes please
[2009/07/05 12:29] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: Yes, Krell?
[2009/07/05 12:29] Krell Kruh: I would like to discuss flight in the cavern
[2009/07/05 12:30] Krell Kruh: Whene we talk about not allowing flight, does that include parcels?
[2009/07/05 12:30] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: It would be at the parcel owner's discretion
[2009/07/05 12:30] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: If we were to turn fly off, it would be only on the main parcel.
[2009/07/05 12:30] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: However, it is programmed into the group that if fly is off on resident land, that the resident can still fly
[2009/07/05 12:31] Krell Kruh: And when is it anticipated that the switch will be thrown
[2009/07/05 12:31] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: We'll be doing it on a trial basis at first, seeing how things go, where people fall into water or have issues
[2009/07/05 12:31] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: When we work things out so fly is no longer required, we will hold a final council vote
[2009/07/05 12:32] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: if the vote approves fly to be off, it will remain off
[2009/07/05 12:32] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: if it does not, I may ask for votes again in the future
[2009/07/05 12:32] Krell Kruh: OK, I will just need to make some over due changes in my parcel
[2009/07/05 12:32] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: Just know that people will not be able to fly into your parcel
[2009/07/05 12:32] DeAnn Dufaux: If there is a no-fly, will there be an walkway alternative to the ferry?
[2009/07/05 12:32] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: but they will, at your choice, be able to fly on your parcel
[2009/07/05 12:32] Krell Kruh: Yes, I understand
[2009/07/05 12:32] Krell Kruh: one other related question
[2009/07/05 12:33] Krell Kruh: the ferry system
[2009/07/05 12:33] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: Ferries will be the way to get around the cavern without fly
[2009/07/05 12:33] DeAnn Dufaux: k
[2009/07/05 12:33] Krell Kruh: I have the green ferry at my dock
[2009/07/05 12:33] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: We are still improving them for their speed and efficiency in getting around the sim
[2009/07/05 12:33] Krell Kruh: It seems it goes around the other side
[2009/07/05 12:33] Krell Kruh: how would one get to the inside?
[2009/07/05 12:34] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: the green line and yellow line meet up in the neighborhood
[2009/07/05 12:34] Krell Kruh: ok, nuff said
[2009/07/05 12:34] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: Your parcel currently has the unfortunate circumstance of being the station just after that one
[2009/07/05 12:34] Bibi Schism: Is this like public transit?
[2009/07/05 12:34] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: which would mean you have to ride all the way around the cavern to get to the hood and transfer to the yellow line
[2009/07/05 12:35] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: yes, the ferries are public transit :)
[2009/07/05 12:35] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: So, we are working to find more efficient ways to run the ferry system
[2009/07/05 12:36] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: A few of our options are: Drivable ferries, an alternate route that follows the green line, but in the opposite direction, or allow the green line to go backwards and forwards (turn around, etc.)
[2009/07/05 12:36] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: We're not sure what our final choice will be, or when, but it will be resolved before fly is turned off :)
[2009/07/05 12:36] Tailahr Winnikow: How about temp vehicles on the upper walkway?
[2009/07/05 12:37] Krell Kruh: Drive able might be intereting if they have big bumpers!
[2009/07/05 12:37] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: I'd prefer to introduce only permanent things
[2009/07/05 12:38] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: The upper walkway is meant as just that, a walkway, you're welcome to rez your own vehicles, as always
[2009/07/05 12:39] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: Any other discussion points about land issues or policies today?
[2009/07/05 12:39] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: Ok, moving on to fun and gadgetry
[2009/07/05 12:40] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: Currently, the July sparklie is out! Go grab it!
[2009/07/05 12:40] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: Upcoming this week is the level 2 building classes with the builder's guild
[2009/07/05 12:40] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: there's spots still open
[2009/07/05 12:40] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: Contact Dagda Sideways or DeAnn Dufaux for more info, or to sign up!
[2009/07/05 12:41] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: As always, the uru book club continues their readings this week
[2009/07/05 12:41] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: Weekdays except wednesdays
[2009/07/05 12:41] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: and the summer journey for ED is coming soon to a sim near you!
[2009/07/05 12:41] Tailahr Winnikow: (GoH Meditations on Wednesdays.)
[2009/07/05 12:42] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: Yes, Meditations are on wednesdays, at two times throughout the day.
[2009/07/05 12:42] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: is there anything else about fun and gadgetry?
[2009/07/05 12:42] Dagda Sideways: it was a really great session last week, I highly recommend it to everyone
[2009/07/05 12:43] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: Ok, anything else not covered elsewhere in the meeting?
[2009/07/05 12:44] Krell Kruh: Move to adourn
[2009/07/05 12:44] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: If there's nothing else I'll wrap up the meeting
[2009/07/05 12:45] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: OK so, summary. Though we have little to announce and these meetings are going fast, it doesn't mean we're not doing anything, as evident by the consistent events and progress we've been making in building and fun throughout the sim
[2009/07/05 12:46] JeffeJ5005 Lewis: Things have been a bit high tension behind the scenes as we're making all this progress, but the end result has turned out well
