Getting OpenURU CWE client working
Re: Getting OpenURU CWE client working
Hmm, I was barking up the wrong tree then. (There's an issue with Python 2.3 and VS2005 and up which results in a crash right at the same point.)
I could try to connect to your server with my client. Feel free to PM me with details if you'd like to give that a crack.

Re: Getting OpenURU CWE client working
I'm not sure where things could be going wrong here, but for one thing, the client always downloads the python first. That it does not request it implies to me something is wrong with the manifest.
Could you please post the .txt (source) python manifest and an excerpt from SDL manifest? I assume you are using the ones provided, though.
Presumably there is not something funky with the / as path separator because if there were the server could not send the manifest to the client and the client would not be asking for SDL files. Could please you post the actual errors from the server log? Can you set the auth_log_level to MSGS and check that the client requests and recieves the python manifest?
This is not a problem I have seen before so we're going to need more info about what is going on.

Re: Getting OpenURU CWE client working
Alright, Skoader has been investigating the issue with his own client and it looks like it IS requesting the Python.pak and it successfully downloads it. Every single SDL, however, fails to download. The Python and SDL manifests are setup the same exact way and the SDL one should work just as the Python one does. This isn't making much sense. As requested, however, here is the Python.txt that was used to create the mbam manifest as well as the SDL one.
This is the log given to me when someone (anyone) attempts to connect and downloads auth files (taken from auth.log):
The auth folder is correctly setup and everything. I do not see what could be causing trouble with the SDLs.

Re: Getting OpenURU CWE client working
Hmm, that is very odd. Assuming that your directories are set up correctly, this indeed makes no sense. I'm sorry to be pedantic but please let's double-check that. If you cd to the "default" directory and you do "ls Python" you get the python.pak and if you do "ls SDL" you get the SDL files? The case is correct and everything too?
If your directories are right, the especially peculiar thing here is that there is zero code in MOSS that treats these directories differently. If you added a "foo" auth manifest in the client, and added the foo.mbm file and it referred to files in the "bar" directory, it should all work! So there's no obvious MOSS reason for these to be different. This is grasping at straws but are the SDL files symlinks and not the Python, or anything different from the file system point of view?
If not, I guess let us try this patch and see if the logging provides any clues.

Re: Getting OpenURU CWE client working
One thing I've noticed -- encryption.key should not be in your manifest. I hope it is not in the SDL directory; it needs to be one level up. But things would have failed sooner if not.
EDIT: this leads to another thought. It seems you must have edited the SDL manifest but maybe not the Python one. Maybe there is a line-ending problem here? Does OS X still use CR as line-endings (vs. LF like FreeBSD would)?
Could you please provide a hex dump of, say, the first 64 bytes of the SDL.mbam file? If you have it, "hexdump -C" output would be ideal, but whatever you can get.

Re: Getting OpenURU CWE client working
Alright, I did the cd and ls commands and all the SDLs were in their correct directory. No, the SDLs are the files themselves, not symlinks or anything of the like.
This is the first 64 bytes of the hexdump of my SDL.mbam manifest:
I do notice that it uses a different amount of dots to create a newline in mine than in the dump you supplied as an example (11 vs. 9). Think this could cause problems?
I applied the patch you supplied and this is the new log information I received after attempting to login with my client (taken from auth.log):
I realize it has become quite large but I decided to post the entirety of what was logged when it was finding SDLs and Python, especially because one of the SDLs appears to HAVE been found and downloaded by the client (xTelescope.sdl, this can be found near the bottom). I do have a clue, why though. xTelescope is defined in the mbam source as the very last one. The hexdump shows 9 dots after the filename instead of the usual 11 seen throughout my hexdump. Could this be the reason why? It must!
That is the very bottom of the hexdump for SDL.mbam. I will experiment with my findings to see if I can fix this.
This is the first 64 bytes of the hexdump of my SDL.mbam manifest:

Re: Getting OpenURU CWE client working
Your hypothesis was correct! There was a line ending problem in the source. I took the SDL source (SDL.txt) into my computer running Ubuntu and changed the line ending format to Linux/UNIX (it was originally at Windows...) I then remade the mbam and it works perfectly now! I was able to log in and the Client did not crash. I also got into Uru and was greeted by Relto! Yes! It finally works! Ahhh thank you so much everyone for your astounding support! The vShard lives!!!!

Re: Getting OpenURU CWE client working
Well now, I've been testing stuff in the vShard and everything seems to be working well. Except for the fact that my client crashes everytime I try to interact with a physics object.
The stack dump:
I built the client with PhysX 2.6.4.2 (the .2 is the full version number given by PhysX) just like the tutorial told me to. I also am using the DLLs that were generated by the build (which claim they are also version 2.6.4.2). No matter what I try to do with the DLLs the client keeps on crashing. What could be wrong with the client here?
EDIT: I should also add that the client crashes without a stack dump (with Windows' "This program has stopped working..." message) as soon as UruExplorer starts with the login screen on Windows 7. It works fine on Vista and XP, but not 7.
The stack dump:
Code: Select all
UruLive.Live.1.902 - External.Release
Exception type: Access violation
Call stack (14 levels):
0x004572BC
0x00456E2B

Re: Getting OpenURU CWE client working
Yes, there is no file named "anonay.sdl<CR>". It was in the manifest with a CR on the end so the client asked for it with a CR on the end. I also see the size information was all zeros in your manifest. How were you creating the manifest before? With the perl script? If so, I can use a big hammer on the CRLF problem but I'm not sure where the sizes went wrong.

Re: Getting OpenURU CWE client working
Yes, those versions that you saw of the hexdump were from the perl script.
