Re: What needs to be done with the Plugin?

One day, maybe a little way down the road, Cyan will make a new build machine with a new Max version. That is $3,500. From my experience with Autodesk licensing 3500 is a very fluid number. That's more like a ceiling--there are tons of purchasing options (upgrades/membership/subscription) it totall...

Re: What needs to be done with the Plugin?

Mac_Fife, I can send you a full copy of Autodesk's EULA if you'd like to look it over in more detail.

Re: What needs to be done with the Plugin?

You also don't need the actual SDK to run a plugin--it seemed that Natales was under that impression. All you would need to run the COMPILED plugin is Max of a binary compatible version to the plugin. Example (rough, but illustratively accurate): CWE Plugin compiled with Max SDK 7 --------> works wi...

Re: What needs to be done with the Plugin?

Is there any chance I could get a hold of the original (completely unmodified) code (whole package) as delivered from Cyan? With no modifications to the VS projects to get CWE to compile? I'm hoping to use it to piece together what is missing from the plugin code. Detective work is easiest when ther...

Re: What needs to be done with the Plugin?

So, let me share some more thoughts/memory-dump about this process... I believe that we'll be able to take the plugin code (mostly as-is) and compile it against a newer MAX SDK. The libraries that the plugin includes (and uses functions from) are standard libraries from the Max 7 SDK which haven't e...

Re: What needs to be done with the Plugin?

From the puttering I did last night, it appears that MOST of the source for the plugin is still intact, but a few files might have been left out by Cyan. More on this later when I can confirm with data.

Re: What needs to be done with the Plugin?

I now have a copy of VS 2008, so hopefully I can get it building with that.

Although the GoW guys aren't too keen on getting the plugin compiling. I'm under the impression that Max is not a priority at all for them.

Re: What needs to be done with the Plugin?

It may be important to distinguish that the source is extending from Cyan Worlds Inc. but it is a community driven project/group that would need the sponsorship. Totally non-commercial and non-profit (without non-profit status).

Re: What needs to be done with the Plugin?

So, after pouring over my Autodesk End-User License Agreement--I can't seem to find any loopholes that would work. In particular: You may Access the application programming interfaces that may be included with or in the Software or otherwise available from Autodesk for use with the Software (“API’s”...
