Stress Test set for February 18th

Plans are being made for a real test of the Minkata shard. Can it handle 50+ people in the city (limit will be optimistically raised to 200)? Can it handle simultaneous linking by multiple avatars at once? Can it handle a simple door run?

Tip: turn off shadows to help reduce your own lag so you won't crash before the server does. ;)

Saturday, February 18th

12:00 KI time - test of multiple avatars linking to multiple ages in a short period of time. To facilitate this, ALL Sparklies will be enabled for two hours only and testers will be encouraged to attempt to achieve Relto fireworks by 14:00 KI time. Take a KI shot of the calendar island with fireworks and send it to rarified, KI #253 to receive the title of "Tester Extraordinaire." First one to do so receives bragging rights. :D
Check out the Guild of Greeters list of sparkly locations to help you plan your strategy, and if you need help getting to K'veer before then, post in the To K'veer and beyond thread.

14:00 KI time - test of multiple avatars moving about in one place. To facilitate this, D'niJ Ktahdn will be broadcasting music for a party in the city. Tune in to Radio KTDN and meet in D'ni Ae'gura. Please note that the heavy traffic load may cause a delay in linking (possibly 15-30 minutes), so allow yourself enough time to arrive in the city by the appointed time.

Annabelle will offer Marker Quests

15:00 KI time - if the server hasn't crashed by this time, Ktahdn will relay instructions from rarified for another test tbd, possibly a door run.

We need as many people as possible to participate in this, so make plans now to attend. :)

A few details have been added to the OP since it was first posted. I also just added a tip suggested by Adam/Hoikas to turn off shadows to help reduce your own lag so you won't crash before the server does.

I'm expecting that you can have access to every ages. The quest for 99% of explorers will ask you to test a special feature and the end of it. I don't think it has been tested yet and its a buddy of mine that gave me the idea last weekend when she asked me question about it.

Not telling what it is. :D
Annabelle, can you tell us when and how people can get your marker quests this Saturday? I.e., should they post their KI #s for you or will you be in a particular place handing them out Saturday morning or what?

I have 1 quest completed: "run & grab"
a very easy quest,
there's no additional jumps than the jumps you should normally do playing the game as intended, no reltoing out either
aim for every explorers

Tonight I'll work on a 2nd quest: "hard stuff"
a very hard quest with combos, double-jumps, thinking of strategies to get the markers which will be reachable after a few steps only
high possibility of reltoing out but you shouldn't theorically relto out.
aim for more skilled skydivers (I know who can make that quest ;) there will be no excuse for you  )

If I have enough energy, I'll work on a 3rd quest: "jump & climb"
for those who want to jump normally (walk-jump or run-jump, the traditional jumps not any combos or sequential jumps) but still jump
in that quest, you will have to jump once, if I make you jump twice in a row then there will be another marker in between
there's possibility that you relto out but less chance than "hard stuff"
aim for every explorers who want more kick or skydivers who prefer soft jumps

I'll be online with Annabelle (KI #5152) saturday - The 2 easiest quests will be made by Annabelle, the hardest by Annabelle-Sophie, nevertheless every quests will be sent by Annabelle.

You can also send your KI with the quest requested in PM here on the forum, or in Cavern, or even on this thread.

Now time for me to go to work, I was sick earlier this month so I couldn't work on those quests, now "Je cours contre la montre" (maybe "I'm running after time"), that's where we see who's really a born english-speaker who's not

I am strangely looking forward to breaking something. I've decided a test shard is a safer thing to break than a piece of pottery I'm working on. I've not gotten too far in the ages, but I will surely be there running amok.
See you all there! :)

If the server is still running after all the tests, maybe we can make a "Fun House" and send in a "Gray Hat" and see what he/she* can do! :)

* Are there any female Gray Hats?

Hey LC, do you know if Vinnie is planning to set up the pizza ovens for this shindig? I'm wondering if those alone might prove to be a stress test for this shard. ;)
