Granted, this was a borderline case. In this case, because the idea seems to have come at least partially from Cyan themselves, because it’s a fairly simple change, and because we were able to test it thoroughly in a short time, I considered it justified. I agree this should not become the norm though.Hoikas wrote:This seems somewhat incompatible with the attitude shown here.

Re: Minkata Shard Updates
well, if the great blue decides it's best to include sprawling gameplay changes while we voluntarily hold back simple crash fixes, be my guest.

Re: Minkata Shard Updates
Hoikas, I did appreciate your point about asking Cyan to add the missing share book seek behavior. That would be the correct way to fix the Kadish alternate vault book (which btw is also missing a share book region).
JWPlatt, can you bring this up next time you have a chat with Chogon? It doesn't even require an artist to correct this since there are no visuals involved. A programmer who is familiar with the max plugin should be able to do it.
If that turns out to be impossible then I have a workaround here. I will not make a pull request for this unless there is absolutely no other option.

And perhaps remind them that we could do the work and testing for this sort of fix instead, if they'd let us...D'Lanor wrote:JWPlatt, can you bring this up next time you have a chat with Chogon? Re: Minkata Shard Updates
To the two posts above, a) I'd be most happy to, and b) they are well aware but I plan to pursue it this week.
Perfect speed is being there.

Minkata Shard Update: September 29, 2012
This is a minor update to resolve problems with the Free the Cursor fix. The new client is marked Minkata.61.
Changes in this update:
Changes in this update:
- From Skoader and Lyrositor: Allows the cursor to leave the client window and disables mouse recentering at load time.
- How to test:
- Confirm that the mouse cursor is no longer held captive in the game client window, and that clicking outside the game window behaves as Windows normally does (also when returning to the game window).

This is another minor update to resolve problems with the Free the Cursor fix. The new client is marked Minkata.62.
Changes in this update:
Changes in this update:
- From Skoader: Removes the resize handle on window borders
- How to test:
- Confirm that the mouse cursor is no longer held captive in the game client window, and that clicking outside the game window behaves as Windows normally does (also when returning to the game window). Confirm you cannot change the size of the client window by grabbing it's border.

Minkata Shard Update: October 13, 2012
This is a significant update to the game client. The new client is marked Minkata.65.
Changes in this update:
Changes in this update:
- From Skoader and Christian Walther: Avatar physics update
A significant and much needed cleanup of the avatar physics code. It resolves numerous issues with and greatly simplifies the physx character controller implementation.
While there is still room for improvement, this is a good starting point.
Avatars now jump consistently, regardless of cpu speed. Fixes unexpected camera transitions with entering/exiting some subworlds. (Teledahn elevator) Fixes a jitter in animated subworlds. (Er'cana harvester) Dynamic controllers are correctly positioned on the ground. (Jalak) Much improved interaction with dynamic physicals.
- How to test:
- Use your Avatar to interact physically with as much of the environment as possible, looking for new glitches, or fixed old glitches. Skydivers pay heed: your old tricks may not work, and there may be new tricks available. It's a new playing field.
There will be more information forthcoming about an organized testing effort soon.

Minkata Shard Update: October 23, 2012
This is a significant update to the game client, a bug fix update to Minkata.65. The new client is marked Minkata.66.
Changes in this update:
Changes in this update:
- From Skoader:
- Fix intermittent spawn bug
Flush the transform when avatars are explicitly spawned on load. e.g. Ahnonay quabs. - Fix warping an avatar triggers all detectors along the path
When explicitly moving an avatar over the given threshold, teleport the underlying
actor most of the way before moving the controller. - Fix subworld transition bug
Use the actual global location, not the interpolated location when moving
between subworlds. Rebuild the controller cache.
- Fix intermittent spawn bug
- How to test:
Continue the same testing you started for Minkata.65
- Use your Avatar to interact physically with as much of the environment as possible, looking for new glitches, or fixed old glitches.
