Good job, janaba!

Two comments:

Hmm, if we understand the same thing by “waltz”, then this should not be possible anymore. Can you describe in more detail what you’re doing? Something like: “Move the mouse cursor near the right edge of the window so that it gets a right-pointing arrow. Press the mouse button. Avatar starts turning. Move the mouse to the right until the cursor exits the window and changes to the standard Windows pointer. Avatar keeps turning. Release mouse button. Avatar keeps turning.” (In that sequence, what I’m seeing is that the cursor does not exit the window – the Uru cursor disappears behind the window edge, but no Windows pointer appears outside of the window – and the avatar stops turning at that point.)

I think IrfanView is smart enough that it was also able to open the corrupted files from before the fix, try Windows Photo Viewer or some other simple-minded application.

You're right about IrfanView, Christian, I didn't think of that ... I've tried it with 'XnView' which is very smart too and it opened the KI images as well, but PaintNet, PhotoFiltre and even Gimp couldn't open them ... Gimp is saying: Not a jpeg file: starts with 0x23 0x1f ... PaintShopPro opened them again ... :P

As of the 'waltz', I just tried it again to see how it exactly works ... You're only turning around as long as you see the right or left arrow cursor when moving the cursor completely to the right or left while holding down the left mouse button ... in the moment you move the cursor more to the right or left or even outside the window the turning stops ... so, this feels all very normal or not unusual ... :)

The Intro video is of course gone, I forgot to mention this before ... There is this nice fast approaching still picture with the message to go on exploring Uru and then fast disappearing again ... nicely resolved I'd say ... :D

OK, yes, then everything seems alright regarding the waltz.

(And yes, you caught me online when I wasn’t paying attention – by the time I noticed, you were gone. :))

I'm slowly working my way through things, and I also completed the Gahreesen jumps no problem. I'll be there for a little while today.

I was inspired by janaba to try sitting in front of the bookshelf. In the close-up view of the bookshelf, if you open your Ki and sit, and then use a book, you can link while still sitting (ie you don't stand up first) - but from my tests, you arrive standing up.

I don't experience any "fast approaching still picture" - when I accept the license agreement, I go straight to the spinning circle.

I have just posted a ticket for the return vogondola ride - my avvie floats above the chair and the door shuts on her :o , but she doesn't panic link in the way that used to happen in 2012 ( remember D'Lanor's video? viewtopic.php?f=108&t=830&p=7255&hilit=vogondola#p7255) , so it's not a fatal error.

It seems you didn't see Yeesha's Intro video, usually accessible through the options window, yet, Treehugger ... :)

Thanks, janaba, yes, I've seen the video but maybe it was on one of the shards - I don't ever remember clicking on the settings video button before  - so now I understand what you're describing. As you say, it now flashes on and off very fast. I thought you were meaning something like the cyan logo at the start. :D

Re: HEY! We're in here, testing! (Apr 12 Update)

Post by Ricard »

Hello, my friends.
I'm finally able to re-set my password and log in here this afternoon. It seems that all of my other problems have "disappeared" too, and everything is working correctly.

I can now run-jump using my mouse, but not my keyboard. (Has it always been that way?) ...and I've gone beyond all the places where I had been blocked over the past few days. I actually do suspect Windows 8 and it's new User Access Control function (maybe together the firewall, my anti-virus, and MalwareBytes) for these anomalies. It seems absurd that such should be the case, and I have nothing to back up my suspicion, but my recent change in OS is the only thing that has changed since I last had a smooth computing experience. All I did this morning was log in and out of my regular user and Administrator accounts a couple of times, and now things are working.

Sorry for the side-talk. Back to topic. I have continued to test Minkata yesterday. I will re-state what I said before. This build is working Great! I've been through many aspects of the game with a variety of avatars in a wide range of progress points, and I cannot find a single thing wrong with it. I think you boys and girls have finally developed a remarkably stable build. Well done!

I just posted to the "We're in here..." thread. I see that this one must be the correct current thread.

Here's just a re-cap of what I wrote there:
I have continued to test Minkata a lot on Saturday. This build is working Great! I've been through many aspects of the game with a variety of avatars in a wide range of progress points, and I cannot find a single thing wrong with it. It's really been enjoyable.

When I tried a brand new avatar, a-propos to what janaba noted, I saw no Yeesha intro video. With all the problems I'd been having, I thought it was just me.

Welcome to the forum, Ricard, glad you are now able to post. We seem to be using two threads for reporting on the testing right now
